furiosity: (say it with llamas!)
Went hiking/exploring today in the mountains just outside the city!

We were supposed to take a chair lift to see a beautiful crater lake atop the mountain, but the weather at the mountaintop was cloudy/windy, so the chair lift was stopped. "The weather's not that bad, but you know, it's a mountain," the chair lift operator told us. Respect the Mountain.

We drove up to the crater lake instead, but the clouds were really thick up there and filled everything with fog, plus the wind was extremely strong (the wind up there is usually no slouch; all the vegetation atop the peak -- grass and shrubs and dwarf trees -- all grows sideways because of the constant winds) so we couldn't see anything. We had some snacks in the car and then headed down the mountain to a dude ranch. Where it was sunny and 15 degrees (Celsius) warmer than on top of the mountain, go figure.

We saw some baby goats and one of them mugged for my camera (the pic is on twitter; this journal is strictly text only). There was also a sheep being desperately chased by tiny toddlers. We went by a local cheese factory and bought a LOT of cheese, too. Lactose Intolerant who? 🤣😂

We took a bunch of silly pictures of the 4 of us jumping and in weird poses - somehow we all were wearing different Power Rangers coloured hoodies (I was in my green ESO hoodie), so the pics are hilarious. The drive was beautiful, too -- the city is still green, but at higher elevations the leaves are starting to turn already.
